Being in Europe for 4 months straight between November and February you lose allot of power as you are restricted to indoor training. This year we will bring Nolan back to SA between events which will also allow us to include him into our road team which is very reliant on his speed as a team sprinter” said Edwards

Nolan is a very strong rider and although last year the first few days took some getting used to for him he was becoming stronger and faster as the week went on which means he has what it takes to race at this high level. Even on the really small track in Ghent (166m) later in the season he managed to be very competitive and began winning races.” said Boele.

Last year Hoffman partnered Danish rider Marc Hester.  This year he will partner seasoned professional road cyclist and local hero Wesley Kreder who rides for the Vaconsoleil Professional team in the Netherlands. Hoffman stressed that he will be looking to make the biggest impression in the flying lap event and scratch races using his great turn of speed.

“It’s great to be going back to Amsterdam this year as last year I built up quite a big following with the crowd” said Hoffman

“This year I’m allot better prepared both mentally and physically and I know what to expect so I hope to get a better start than what I did last year. With the 6 Day events being by contract only and limited to the best 24 or 26 riders in the world I’m very grateful to be starting. I’d like to think that I did something right last year and have earned my spot back on the circuit.” Said Hoffman

With the 1st round of the World Cup series just 7 days after the Amsterdam event Hoffman said that if all went according to plan the preparation should work out perfect.

“I think the 6 day will be perfect preparation for me ahead of the 1st round of the World Cups which is the qualifying events for the World Championships next year. I will target the Scratch race again but this season I really want to have a go at the Points race as well. I am also committed to the Team Pursuit which is the new vision of Track Cycling SA.”

“With the Commonwealth Games around the corner next year I need to get in as many events as possible at the highest of levels in both disciplines. The vision of Cycling SA and the Team Pursuit I believe is a good one. It provides a foundation to get more SA riders onto the world stage. However in saying this we need the required financial backing to be able to compete against the big countries from around the world that spend millions of pounds, euros and dollars on such a specialised event” said Hoffman.
